Honoring Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 to October 15. This month is dedicated to recognizing and honoring the histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino/a/e/x communities that continue to enrich our workplaces, our communities, and our world.
This year’s theme, Collective Heritage: Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future, reminds us that together we carry forward traditions of resilience, creativity, and progress while building a future of belonging for all.
What is Hispanic Heritage Month?
Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor the histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans of Hispanic and Latino/a/e/x heritage.
The dates of Hispanic Heritage Month were chosen to coincide with the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Chile, which all gained independence from Spanish colonial rule during this period.
Why do we honor Hispanic Heritage Month?
We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month as a time to honor the vibrant traditions, stories, and voices of Hispanic and Latino/a/x residents, families, team members, and partners who enrich our workplace and communities. In doing so, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across our senior living communities.

Happy Payroll Week! Celebrated September 1-5, 2025, Payroll Week coincides with the week of Labor Day to recognize the achievements and partnerships between America’s employees, payroll professionals, and government programs and agencies.
This week, we extend a special thank you to each of you who plays a vital role in ensuring our teams are paid accurately and on time. Payroll takes the collaboration of many hands and minds, and we couldn’t do it without our incredible partners across the organization. A Legacy of Kindness in Memory Care
Ann Truax, now retired after seven years as the administrative assistant with The Arbor at Avamere Court, says life is for living! And she is certainly living by this motto. Ann has been a valued member of the team, always greeting visitors, residents, and fellow teammates with a smile and a warm welcome.
“We have families who walk in here looking for a place for their loved one," Ann shared. "They want to know that their loved one will be safe here. My goal is to be a reassuring first impression and presence.”
